A CALL FOR BIRTH CERTIFICATES

A kidz Kameraz News Reporter Olipa Walikesa has called on the Government of Zambia to open offices where children could be given their birth certificates. She was speaking in an interview with the KIDZ KAMERAZ Patron soon before her departure to Livingstone where she accompanied a group of Jack CECUP School students who went to see the Victoria falls under the support of KIDZ KAMERAZ.
Olipa was quick to mention that like many children in Zambia she has no birth certificate. This is a result of the government system which does not easily allow people to acquire the important documents. There is only One office across the country serving 72 districts about 13 million to give birth certificate hence most children fail to get theirs.
She says a birth certificate is important because it shows who your real parents are, where you were born, your nationaity and that you may not become a president for example of Zambia if you do not have one.
